664 Volunteer Gliding School at Newtownards

Gliding in Northern Ireland takes place at 664 VGS (Volunteer Gliding School) which is located at Newtownards Airfield in County Down. 664 Volunteer Gliding School provides the opportunity for cadets from Northern Ireland to fly in a motor glider.

There are two types of glider that cadets can fly within the ATC, a conventional type, called the Viking, and a motor glider called the Vigilant. In Northern Ireland we only have the motor glider type.
