With the motto ‘To Inspire To Achieve’, the Army Cadet Force offers unrivalled opportunities for 45,000 young people in over 1,700 detachments nationally. There are 1900 Army Cadets in Northern Ireland in two Cadet Battalions, each consisting of four companies. In total there are 76 detachments located across Northern Ireland. Each Battalion is headed by a Colonel Commandant who is a Volunteer supported by a Cadet Executive Officer who is responsible for the day to day administration.
Army Cadets work towards the Army Proficiency Certificate (APC). A structured training syllabus which gives Army Cadets the opportunity to experience a range of challenges and activities including first aid training, adventurous training, shooting and annual camp. Our Army Cadets can also participate in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award Scheme and study through the Cadet Vocational Qualification Organisation (CVQO) for BTEC qualifications.
