ENGAGEMENT EVENING AT BELFAST’S REFORM CLUB

Earlier this week RFCA NI were delighted to host a special engagement evening at Belfast’s Reform Club.  The event brought together Members of the association, representatives from the Armed Forces Covenant signatories, Employers of Reservists as well the wider defence community within Northern Ireland. The event was attended by the Lord Lieutenant of the County Borough of Belfast, Dame Fionnuala Jay O’Boyle DBE.

Speakers at the event included RFCA NI Chair, Commodore Martin Quinn, who highlighted the importance of the key messages from the Government’s recently published Strategic Defence Review.  The review presents a bold and clear vision for the UK by 2025 – to become a “leading tech-rich defence power, with an integrated force that deters, fights and wins through constant innovation at wartime pace” The overarching goal is to ensure the UK remains safer, secure at home and strong abroad.

RFCA NI Chief Executive highlighted the continued success and growth of the Army, Navy and Air Cadets within Northern Ireland and re-iterated the importance of the recruitment of Adult Cadet Force Volunteers, who are the lifeblood of each unit as they support and mentor the young people, building confidence and helping them to reach their true potential.
