This month our Defence Relationship Management (DRM NI) team delivered two exceptional employer engagement experiences, which showcased first hand the leadership qualities and values of Reservists within the British Army.

Royal Military Academy Sandhurst 18 July 2025

DRM NI has the privilege of hosting a group of employers of reservists  from Northern Ireland on an unforgettable visit to the world-renowned  Royal Military Academy Sandhurst (RMAS) – which is the first class training ground for the British Army’s future leaders.  Employers got to observe Officer Cadets during their final commissioning parade rehearsal, heard truly inspiring first-hand stories from newly commissioned Army Reserve Officers, while gaining a unique insight into Sandhurst’s leadership ethos of ‘Serve to Lead’.

Each  Army Reserve Officer benefits from over £25,000 worth of leadership trainings, skills that translate directly into the workplace, delivering a real value to employers.

On 17th July, NI employers also attended an exclusive Army update at the Cavalry & Guards Club in London.  This was hosted by the Army Engagement Group ( AEG), the session provided an overview of ‘Your Army’ the British Army’s current role and its distinctive leadership  philosophy.

The event also featured a presentation on the Army’s newest regiment. The Rangers, and their extraordinary upcoming challenge – a Mount Everest Expedition planned for April 2026.  Major Joe Adamson, who is leading the expedition, shared with the group how his team is preparing , both physically and mentally for this formidable goat.  Employers also had to chance to meet members of the Everest team and see some of the cutting-edge military equipment which will be used by the Rangers.

The events continue to strengthen connections between Defence and Employers, highlighting how Army Reservists can bring unparalleled skills to the workforce.
