The first Army reservist to deploy on operations from 157 Field Company since it was established last year has just returned from 6 months in Iraq – and what’s more, he was the only reservist on the deployment.
Along with his regular counterparts, Craftsman Greer deployed to Erbil (capital of the Kurdish region of Iraq) and his task was to be part of the Weapon Maintenance Training Team (WMTT), which provided training to the Peshmerga (Kurdish Military). The team delivered both a two week basic maintenance course and a two week supplementary “train the trainer” course, which proved to be hugely successful.
Craftsman Greer had a very positive experience on Operations and has come back to the Unit with an encouraging message. He made a number of new friends along the way and gained a lot of confidence in his trade as an Armourer and in the delivery of training. He is now optimistic of a future career in the Regular Army.
