Honoured at the ceremony was high-flying Cadet Sergeant Dominic Robertson who will be one of eleven Lord Lieutenants’ Cadets taking on a largely ceremonial year-long role. He can expect a busy year ahead, attending The Viscount Brookeborough, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for the County of Fermanagh, on major civic occasions. In recognition of the award, Dominic will wear a special insignia on his uniform throughout his year in office.
Cadet Sergeant Dominic Robertson has been a member of the Enniskillen Royal Grammar Detachment since September 2014. In that time he has grown to be a well-respected, loyal and dedicated member of the Detachment, one who can be relied upon and entirely trusted.
Cadet Sergeant Robertson rose to his current rank at Annual Camp 2018, after a very successful Senior Cadets Instructors Cadre. The Citation which accompanies his award says, “Dominic has grown into an excellent role model to the new recruits in the detachment; his personal turnout and bearing is of a very high standard, and he is an excellent communicator, fully engaged with the workings of his Detachment and regularly offering his support.”
Always ready for a challenge, Dominic enjoys and actively pursues every activity that the Army Cadets present, recently representing Norther Ireland in the national football competition. He regularly takes part in local community events, most notably raising vital funds for Autism NI, the designated Battalion Charity. Dominic who is currently working towards his Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award attends the Annual Remembrance Day Parade in Enniskillen and has also supported the Parade in Fivemiletown on a number of occasions.
Outside the Army Cadet Force and school life, Dominic’s interests include football and he commits weekly to training with his team at Enniskillen Rangers. In addition, the energetic teen still finds time for angling and also holds down a part time job.
The Citation concludes, “Given his commitment, confidence, communication skills, and turnout and bearing … Cadet Sergeant Robertson would make an excellent ambassador for the Army Cadet Force, as Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for the County of Fermanagh.”
