The Belfast Tattoo 2014 was a resounding success, due in part to the addition of the military Pipes and Drums for the first time since the Tattoo’s inception 4 years ago. Both the public and the organisers stated that the Tattoo took on a whole new dimension with the involvement of the 1st and 2nd Battalion Royal Irish, 1 Scots and 152 Fuel Services Regiment Pipes and Drums.
Almost 20,000 members of the public watched the event over the 3 days of the Tattoo – almost sell out performances.
The highlight of the night was the march off where they played Killaloe 3 times to a standing ovation with the whole audience shouting the ‘Yoh’ at the appropriate time.
The ABF charity was the main supported charity at the event, however RIRISH RHQ had a PRI shop linked to the recruiting stand manned by 2RIRISH and 152 (U) Tpt Regt where they made around £2000 over the 3 nights.
The addition of the RIRISH dog was a bonus at the PRI stand and then during the finale.
Overall a great event and some fantastic engagement for the military in N Ireland.
