Northern Ireland employers got an inside look at specialist military capability this week, visiting 152 (North Irish) Regiment Royal Logistic Corps (RLC) at Aldergrove for a Defence Relationship Management (DRM) employer engagement event focused on Bulk Fuel Installation operations — the large-scale storage and distribution of fuel in support of Defence activities.
The visit gave employers a first-hand understanding of the high standards Reservists work to, including:
• Fuel quality testing and assurance processes
• Environmental protection measures
• Safety governance and safe systems of work
• Structured training and defined competence standards
Bulk fuel operations are high-risk, high-responsibility activities, and the visit demonstrated the rigorous approach the Regiment takes to delivering them safely and effectively.
Members of the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association for Northern Ireland were also in attendance, reflecting the Association’s role in strengthening links between Defence, employers and the wider community.
Darren Niven, Defence Relationship Management Northern Ireland, said: “Engagement visits like this give employers the opportunity to see first-hand the standards, professionalism and technical competence that Reservists bring into their civilian workplaces every day.”
By building understanding between Defence and business, these visits support stronger partnerships across Northern Ireland.
