Twenty two soldiers from 2 R IRISH who deployed to Afghanistan earlier this year, their partners and employers were invited to a Regimental dinner in Thiepval Barracks to welcome them back to the Battalion and recognise their significant effort and dedication.
The Battalion Second in Command, Major Jamison, welcomed everyone back to the Battalion at the beginning of the evening and highlighted the commitment and professionalism displayed by the Reservists throughout.
Following dinner, Lt Maybin gave a presentation highlighting the role and activities they were involved in whilst deployed. For some, this was the first time they got to sample a full Regimental Dinner and judging by the comments, it was a truly enjoyable experience for all.
Those employers who attended complemented the Battalion for arranging such a great evening. Ms Athene Gordon, representing RFCA, used the opportunity to engage with employers and reservists to discuss the MOD support available to them when they are called out for mobilised service.
