Major Heidi Blackwood, a music teacher at Cookstown High School, was awarded the MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2014 for services to the Army Cadet Force. Heidi has devoted over 14 years of service to the ACF and she is now Director of Music for 1st (NI) Battalion Army Cadet Force (ACF) where she was responsible for raising a Corps of Drums and Military Band as well as mentoring cadets through BTEC level 2 Diplomas in both Personal Development and Teamwork and Music for Public Performance.
Heidi made the trip to Buckingham Palace for her investiture ceremony in December, with her proud parents and her husband, who also serves with the ACF.
