Army Cadets Take to the Skies in Challenging Parachute Training Weekend

As the summer holidays are coming to an end there was an extra adventure and challenge for  cadets from across 2nd Battalion Army Cadets, when they got the chance to take part in an exhilarating static-line parachute jump during an action packed weekend at Netheravon.

The event was delivered by the Army Parachuting Association, which saw them tested both physically and mentally as they stepped outside of the comfort zones and took to the skies.

The weekend kicked off with comprehensive training, when cadets were introduced to parachute equipment, aircraft exit procedures, static-line procedure and emergency drills.  This  ensured that they were fully prepared before facing the challenge the cadets had all travelled to undertake. For some of the cadets, the excitement of jumping from from an aircraft was evident from the outset, while others had to overcome nerves before reaching the aircraft door.  Despite their individual challenges, every cadet showed real determination and courage stepping out of the aircraft and completing their jump.

Following their jumps and safe return to firm ground, the cadets celebrated their achievement before visiting the REME Museum, providing an opportunity to learn more about military history and bringing an unforgettable weekend to a close.

The weekend highlighted the wide range of opportunities available through the Cadet Forces, giving young people the change to challenge themselves, develop new skills and build confidence.

The event was made possible through the support of the Army Parachuting Association, ACCT UK and The /Ulysses Trust, whose contribution helped provide this unique opportunity for both cadets and Adult Volunteers.
