
Cadets from the 1st Battalion Northern Ireland Army Cadet Force improved their musical skills at the National ACF Music Camp, held at Altcar Camp, Merseyside during the Easter Holidays with over 300 cadets from England, Wales and Northern Ireland. On the camp, the cadets received expert musical tuition and took part in other ACF training, including shooting, sports and archery. As well as taking their ACF music tests, cadets had the opportunity to take BTEC (Music), a qualification equivalent to four GCSEs.
Corporal Ebony Kilpatrick aged 18, from Ballymena said “I like meeting new friends from across the country”. Also on the camp is Corporal Leah Armour aged 15 , from Maghera. She explained why she attends Cadets– “I enjoy learning military skills and playing the flute”. The Corps of Drums practice on the second Saturday of every month from 10am to 4pm. Anyone wishing to join should Contact Captain Blackwood on 02890 815221. Full musical training is given and beginners are most welcome. The unit is also recruiting Adult instructors.
Cadet Sergeant Adam Higginson (17) from 1st Battalion Northern Ireland Army Cadet Force enjoyed a very successful Cadet Force Music Camp at Altcar, Merseyside during the Easter Half Term.
Adam from Lisburn who attends Fort Hill College was presented with the awards for the Best Cadet for Baton Drill Best Musician and Best Band Master by the commandant of Cadet Force Music Colonel Bob Jammes He will be using the musical skills learnt at camp and with the Band at Ballymena, on the second Saturday of every month from 10am to 4pm.
