The fantastic new Combined Cadet Centre in Ballynahinch has now opened its doors to the local Army and Air Cadets and is attracting many young people from the area to join.

The bright new facility in the town centre, co-ordinated and project-managed by the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association for Northern Ireland (RFCA NI), comprises a large assembly hall, classrooms, lecture theatres, restrooms and stores that have all been specifically designed to achieve high sustainability accreditation. It has been many months in the making but has now become home to 2004 Ballynahinch Squadron RAF Air Cadets and Ballynahinch Detachment Army Cadets.

The cadets, who up until now have met at the community centre and the masonic hall, are delighted with their new home and are now keen to welcome new cadets to share it with them. If you live in the Ballynahinch area and are aged between 12 and 18, you are welcome to go along to a training night and get involved.  The Air Cadets meet on a Tuesday night at 7pm and the Army Cadets meet on Thursdays at 7pm.  They are also looking for enthusiastic adult volunteers to give them a hand.  If you are interested in supporting them, call 0800 730 730 for further details.

The centre will be officially opened by the Lord Lieutenant for County Down, Mr David Lindsay, in October.
