East Belfast resident, Major Craig Jamison has been honoured at a formal ceremony at Hillsborough Castle.
In the Citation which accompanies his award, Major Craig Jamison is commended for what is described as a ‘varied and committed’ career in the Army Reserve, and for the ‘extremely high level of professionalism’ which he invariably brings to every role and every aspect of his volunteer service.
Several significant periods of overseas deployments are highlighted, with particular tribute paid to Major Jamison’s considerable contribution to preparing and supporting the UK’s largest Reserve contingent for service in Op HERRICK 13 in Afghanistan.
On his return Major Jamison was appointed Second in Command of Queen’s University Officer Training Cops where he proved himself to be a popular and energising influence. This was followed by a period supporting Reserves at Imjin Barracks in Gloucester, then a further deployment to Op BLACKWELL in Mogadishu, part of the UK’s support to the Somali National Army. On that deployment the Castlereagh man was graded as the top Army Reserve Major in East Africa. He returned to his home Battalion in 2016 as Second in Command.
Major Jamieson’s award Citation concludes, “His influence and impact within the Army Reserve in Northern Ireland have been significant so far and are set to continue for the remainder of his career.”
Major Jamison is pictured receiving the Certificate which marks his award from Mrs Fionnuala Jay-O’Boyle, Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for the County Borough of Belfast.
