After many years of planning and advocacy Northern Ireland has never had a University Royal Navy Unit and after years of planning and advocacy it has been launched. Initial work to open the unit was delayed due to COVID but at last the unit was officially launched.
The event was attending by representatives from the Royal Navy, Employers and the Education sector, including the principal guest; Director of P & T Rear Admiral Terry who unveiled the dedication plaque. The guests were led on a tour of the Maritime Reserve’s training ship facility (which the URNU use) and observed a Command, Leadership and Management exercise by Belfast Officer Cadets |

The Band of the Royal Marines , Plymouth played in a quintet whilst the guests has afternoon tea and enjoyed an opportunity to meet the OC’s and staff.
