Each year, several young people are appointed to serve as Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets. They are drawn from the Sea Cadets, Army Cadets, the Air Training Corps and the Combined Cadet Force. These cadets are amongst the best in their respective organisations, having completed most of their training syllabus.
When on duty, Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets wear a distinctive sash with the badge of their appointment, to denote their role. They assist the Lord-Lieutenant as required – often on parade for Royal visits – and act as ambassadors for their organisations and the young people of Northern Ireland. Throughout 2018 – 2019 LL Cadets have been given the opportunity to assist the Lord-Lieutenant at civic and military occasions and, where possible, Royal Visits.
The outgoing Lord-Lieutenant’s Cadets (below) for 2018-19 have attended a variety of events, visits and ceremonies this year and we thank them for there exemplary contribution as great ambassadors for the Cadets and young people across Northern Ireland.
