Cadet Flight Sergeant Woods from 1137 East Belfast Air Cadets, has been chosen as one of 50 cadets from the United Kingdom to take part in an exciting International Air Cadet Exchange programme.
The International Air Cadet Exchange (IACE) plan and run world-wide exchanges for aviation-minded young people who for 15 days every July and August get the opportunity to expand their horizons, get a taste of the other’s culture and gain other great cadet experiences – making life-long friendships at the same time.
Since the first exchange in 1947 between the UK and the Canadian Air Cadets, the world-wide air cadet family now comprises more than 20 nations, with around 600 cadets/volunteer staff exchanging annually, heading off to about 15 different countries around the world.
Cadet Woods has secured himself a place on the USA exchange, where he will have the opportunity to experience the Civil Air Patrol of the USA as well as a great many other exciting things. He didn’t just get this opportunity by chance – his success consisted of a recommendation, an application and two stages of interviews by high level Air Cadet Officials.
You can join the Air Cadets from age 12 and if you want details of your local unit, have a look on the RFCA NI website under ‘find a unit” or call 0800 730730.
