72 (Omagh) Squadron RAF Air Cadets held its annual Church Parade on Sunday 12th Feb to mark the 76th anniversary of the foundation of the Air Cadets on 5th Feb 1941. The cadets were honoured to be joined by Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for County Tyrone, Mr Robert Scott OBE, who was the guest of honour. The service was taken by the new Squadron Padre, Reverend Jane Nelson. The members of the congregation were delighted to share in the celebration of the Air Cadets and many also commented on how well behaved and well turned out the cadets were – a credit to themselves and the staff who make up the unit.
Pilot Officer Graham Dodds of the RAF Reserve commented “Well done to all the Cadets who made the effort to attend today and to the parents that also attended. The parade was a great example of the high standards that young people develop by joining the RAF Air Cadets. Many thanks to First Omagh Presbyterian Church for hosting us”
Omagh & Fermanagh RAF Air Cadets have also recently been honoured by Her Majesty’s Deputy Lieutenant for County Tyrone, Mr James Baxter QPM DL, at a recent to their Squadron HQ. He took time to meet Staff and Cadets as well viewing the excellent new facilities. Mr Baxter expressed his admiration for the high standards shown by all members of the Squadron and for the role they play in the local community. The Squadron presented Mr Baxter with an Air Cadet mug and RAF tie to mark his visit.
