Cadet Sgt Ciara McHugh from Fermanagh recently received her RAFA Flying Scholarship from the head of the Royal Air Force, Air Chief Marshall Hillier.
Ciara is one of only six recipients of this prestigious UK wide award and had to undergo a rigorous selection procedure at the RAF Officer College at Cranwell for the award, beating off stiff competition from across the 900 Sqns in the RAF Air Cadets.
The scholarship will involve her undertaking intensive flying training in GB and will start her on the road to gaining her pilots licence.
Pilot Officer Graham Dodds, Ciara’s Officer Commanding commented “This is a fantastic honour for Ciara and for Fermanagh. Beating the competition from across the rest of the UK and bringing this top honour back to Fermanagh is a credit to Ciara and her hard work”
