On Saturday the 6th of April the weather was perfect as Northern Ireland’s army cadets arrived at Altcar in good spirits for the National Rugby Competition. The 3 teams coached by 2n bn RSMI Rainey, SSI Crawford and SI Robinson had briefed the teams and were all set for a great day of rugby. The girls’ team had been short of players and agreed to join up with the Scottish girls and played as a joint NI/Scottish team and had instantly gelled together and got off to a winning start, playing as a joint team means both sets of players can wear both NI and Scottish colours on their blanking plate. All 3 teams played some excellent rugby and all finished 3rd. A big mention to CPL Brown, Dunmore Det, D Company, who was awarded best senior player!
