
A Community Initiative to Make a Difference
Sea and Army Cadets come together in initiative to raise much needed funds for Blesma, the charity who support serving and ex serving service people who have suffered life-changing injuries in service. Larne Detachment, C Company, is proud to announce the continuation of its successful ring pull charity collection in collaboration with neighbouring Roddensvale School. This inspiring partnership which includes the Ballymena Sea Cadets, creating a united front in the fight against local challenges through innovative recycling efforts.
The joint project focuses on collecting ring pulls, which are not only a sustainable recycling effort but also a means to generate funds for various charities. Regimental Sergeant Major John Johnston of the 1st (NI) Battalion Army Cadet Force expressed his gratitude, stating;
“A big thanks goes to Roddensvale and Larne Detachment Cadets’ family and friends. Your support is invaluable in making this initiative a success.”
Petty Officer Lewis Hamilton from Ballymena Sea Cadets highlighted the impact of the project, revealing that after recycling this recent collection which filled a quarter of the mini bus!
To date, the total amount raised stands at an impressive £250.00.
However, this figure is expected to rise as other Detachments within the 1st (NI) Battalion Army Cadets join in on the collection efforts, amplifying the initiative’s reach and impact.
This collaborative effort not only supports charitable causes but also fosters community spirit and environmental consciousness among the younger generation. The Larne Detachment, Roddensvale School, and Ballymena Sea Cadets invite everyone to participate in this rewarding cause, emphasising that every small contribution counts towards making a significant difference in the lives of those in need.
