Every year since 1970, The Queen’s University Officers’ Training Corps (Queen’s UOTC), Belfast has competed in the Northern Lights Competition. This competition sees the 4 Scottish UOTCs and Queen’s UOTC battle it out in a range of different military and sporting activities. This year the competition was held between Barry Buddon Training Camp and Leuchars Station Army Camp on the eastern coast of Scotland.  They were joined for the first time by the East of Scotland University Air Squadron.

The events included March and Shoot, drill, male rugby, female tag rugby, 5 a-side football, hockey, tug of war, orienteering, duathlon, Scottish/Irish dancing, and Pipes and Drums.

The weather was amazing and QUOTC returned home on Sunday with a great result:

  • 1st in Dancing, which the unit haven’t won this since 1995
  • 1st in Female rugby – second year in a row
  • Fastest male time in the orienteering

….and 3rd OVERALL in the whole competition!!!   FANTASTIC RESULT!
